MEET ADNAN

“I was a 54 year old man working as a taxi driver in Syria, living with my wife Amena and our three suns. Our elder boy , Mohammed, was studying English literature in the university. Tarek, 15, and Sami, 10, were both good students at school. Sami wanted to become a doctor to ‘help people get relieved from pain and treat his ill grandfather’.
On one tragic day, I lost my wife in a missile strike as she was taking the kids to school. Tarek, my second oldest boy , was also severely wounded and doctors had to amputate his right leg. After that, I lost my job and our family had no income to live on. We were helpless and forced to borrow money from our relatives or neighbors for our most basic daily expenses.
Fortunately, the local church in Syria visited us and gave me and my family some cash assistance and a rich basket of food. We were amazed by such generosity and so thankful because we did not have to beg for our food or borrow money to buy some!”
